Endovascular Treatment of Intracranial Pial Arteriovenous Fistula in Paediatric Patient

نویسندگان

چکیده

Pial arteriovenous fistula (AVFs) are a rare, although clinically significant, vascular anomaly affecting the pediatric population, consisting of high-flow connection between one or more pial arteries and venous. In children, clinical presentation varies according to age, can present with high output cardiac failure, macrocrania, neurodevelopmental delay, seizures, venous infarctions due stenosis hemorrhage secondary thrombosis. The treatment, is multimodal approach, most commonly endovascular, effective in obliteration AVF. A case presented previously healthy infant boy neurological deficit arising from pAVF middle posterior cerebral artery. was successfully treated endovascular occlusion.

Intracranial Pial Arteriovenous Fistula Mimicking a Vein of Galen Aneurysm with Hydrocephalus Managed with Endovascular Method: Case Report

Background and Importance: Intracranial pial arteriovenous fistula is a recently described matter as a rare vascular malformation occurring in children. It is usually located in the subpial space in the intracranial cavity with a high-flow shunt. Case Presentation: Authors report on a 2-year-old child with intracranial pial arteriovenous fistula and progressive enlargement of he...

Onyx Embolization of Intracranial Pial Arteriovenous Fistula

Intracranial pial arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs) are rare cerebrovascular lesions consisting of one or more arterial connections to a single venous channel without an intervening nidus. Because of the location and high flow dynamics of these lesions, neurosurgeons may have a difficulty deciding between endovascular treatment and open surgical treatment. We report on a patient who underwent endov...

Prenatal diagnosis of intracranial pial arteriovenous fistula and endovascular treatment during the neonatal period.

We present a case with prenatal diagnosis of an intracranial high-flow pial arteriovenous fistula that was draining into the vein of Galen in the third trimester of pregnancy. The child was treated by transcatheter embolization with N-butyl 2-cyanoacrylate (NBCA) via the umbilical artery in the early neonatal period due to intractable cardiac failure. Hydrocephalus developed and a ventriculoper...

Surgical treatment of the intracranial pial arteriovenous fistula

BACKGROUND Pial arteriovenous fistula (PAVF) is a rare vascular condition comprising of one or more arterial vessels that are in direct communication with the draining veins. The condition is also characterized by the absence of a nidus. Due to high blood flows, varicose systems adjacent to the fistula appear. The key characteristic of the arteriovenous direct transition is that it offers a tre...

Intracranial Pial Arteriovenous Fistula Presenting with Hemorrhage: A Case Report

Intracranial pial arteriovenous fistula (AVF) is a rare cerebrovascular malformation, which has a single or multiple arterial connections to a single venous channel without intervening nidus, and is different from arteriovenous malformation (AVM). We report on a case of a surgically treated pial AVF. A 15-year-old girl with an altered mental state was brought to our hospital. Computed tomograph...
